Product Review:

As a freelance graphic designer and part-time gamer, I was searching for a budget-friendly processor that could handle both productivity and gaming without bottlenecking my system. After a lot of research, I decided to go with the AMD Ryzen 5 5500, and after several months of usage, I can confidently say it’s one of the best value CPUs in its class.

 Performance & Multitasking:

The Ryzen 5 5500 is built on Zen 3 architecture, featuring 6 cores and 12 threads with a boost clock up to 4.2 GHz. This makes it ideal for day-to-day multitasking, creative work, and light to moderate gaming. I regularly run Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Spotify, and Chrome with 15+ tabs simultaneously, and it handles everything smoothly.

In video editing software like DaVinci Resolve, it performs decently for 1080p projects, although for heavier 4K workflows, a higher-tier CPU would be more efficient. Still, for under-budget builds, it’s more than capable.

 Gaming Experience:

In terms of gaming, paired with a GTX 1660 Super and 16GB RAM, I get solid performance at 1080p. I tested games like Valorant, Apex Legends, and GTA V, all running at over 100 FPS on medium to high settings. Even more demanding titles like Hogwarts Legacy run at 45–60 FPS when settings are optimized.

It’s not the CPU for 4K gaming or extreme multitasking while gaming, but for the average user or beginner gamer — it’s fantastic.

 Thermals & Cooling:

The Ryzen 5 5500 comes with the Wraith Stealth cooler, which is surprisingly effective. During normal usage, the temps stay around 35–45°C, and during gaming or editing, it peaks around 75°C. While it’s not whisper-quiet, it does the job well for a stock cooler.

If you’re into overclocking or want quieter operation, investing in an aftermarket cooler would help — but for most users, the included cooler is sufficient.

 Power Efficiency:

With a TDP of 65W, the Ryzen 5 5500 is energy-efficient. I’m running it on a 500W PSU, and the overall system power draw remains low, making it suitable for compact or low-wattage builds.

 Installation & Compatibility:

Installation was simple. It’s compatible with AM4 socket motherboards, and I used a B450 board with a BIOS update. Drivers were easy to install, and the system was up and running within 30 minutes.

 Final Verdict:

The AMD Ryzen 5 5500 is an excellent mid-range CPU that delivers strong performance for its price. It’s perfect for budget-conscious users, students, home office setups, or casual gamers. The combination of 6 cores, 12 threads, and included cooling makes it a solid option for under $150.

If you want a reliable and affordable processor that can handle work, play, and light creative workloads — this is the one.
